How It Works

This raffle benefits our very own Threadhead Cultural Foundation, New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic/New Orleans Musicians’ Assistance Fund, and local free youth music clinics.

Prizes are donated to the raffle via the online donation form.  You will receive an email confirmation and tax receipt for prize donations (ticket purchases, however, are not tax deductible).  Prizes are delivered to, and held by, the Raffle Coordinator until the drawing.  All donor forms need to be completed and submitted by March 10, 2017.   All prizes will have to be sent to the Raffle Coordinator by March 15, 2017.

This site will be opened for ticket buying around March 22, 2017.  The 2017 raffle will be open until 6:00 pm on Sunday, April 16, 2017.  Winners will be drawn on Monday, April 17, 2017.

Our raffle prizes are divided into the following categories:

Threads & Things: Basically, things made of fabric – t-shirts, pillows, throws, hats, etc.
How Great Thou Art: All things art – paintings, blown glass, etc.
Jam Central: All things music – tickets to live shows, festivals, Cds, etc.
Eats & Drinks: Food and beverage – restaurants gift certificates, wine, etc.
Peace, Love, & Bling:  Jewelry and accessories.
Power to the Poster: All posters, all the time.
Road Trip: Travel packages, hotel stays, maybe some music festivals also included.
Unique & Funky: Anything that didn’t fit into other categories – books, collectibles, and other unique & funky stuff

What you are purchasing on our website are “raffle tickets” or “chances” to win our prizes. You only purchase “tickets” (or chances) for the prizes you would like to win. You can purchase as many as you would like for any particular prize. (Another term for this might be “Chinese Raffle” or “Penny Social”). For instance, a ticket (or chance) to win the 2015 Jazz Fest Poster costs $3.50. If you purchase one of these, you will be entered into the drawing one time for that prize. If you purchase 5 of these, you will be entered 5 times; purchase 10 and you’ll be entered 10 times, etc. All sales are done online.  No physical raffle tickets are distributed or sold.  Ticket prices vary depending on the value of the prize:

Our 2017 raffle will be open until 6:00 pm on April 16, 2017.   A winner will be drawn for each individual raffle prize through our automated drawing system on April 17, 2017.

Our system uses a  time-seeded uniformly random algorithm to determine winning ticket numbers.  The odds of winning each individual prize will be determined by the exact number of tickets purchased for the item and the number of lots available.  In some cases, winners of multiple lots may elect to accept fewer items and the additional lots will be randomly assigned to other purchasers of tickets for the item(s) drawings.

Winners are notified via email immediately following the drawing and arrangements then made for delivery or pick-up of prizes.  Because postage and shipping fees are deducted from the raffle proceeds, we do our best to deliver prizes locally to winners who will be in New Orleans during the week of Jazz Fest.  If local delivery is impossible, we will happily arrange for shipment of prizes after Fest.
